Charlie is not given much help in getting home. In fact, he is told to take care of himself until the money arrives from Newfoundland to send him home. If this were to happen today do you think that adults would have the same reaction?

I think that if the same thing was to happen today the adults would be a lot more considerate of Charlie.
I think you might be right. I would be very upset to think that people would leave a child to fend for themselves with no money, etc. However, what about homeless children? Do you think that they ever fall between the cracks and get forgotten about?

I think it would be different in today's time.. But, I can see him still having to take care of himself, but they would care a lot more about it.
no i think that my mom would not send me away and give me money with out a ride home or anything.
