Mac says, “If you’re old enough to watch good men die, I guess you are old enough for wine.” Do you agree or disagree? What makes a person more mature—age or years of experience?

I agree. If the kid is mature enough to handle watching someone die, he is mature enought to have a glass of wine. I don't think that there is anything wrong with that. Either way, I think Charlie is mature enough to do so, because basically for his whole life he has been taking care of himself, and is mature enough to do that too.
Great comments. Not that I am condoning under age drinking or anything, but I think that you are right. Sometimes people are very immature when they are older because they have not really experienced life and all that it has to offer. I think you are right in saying that experience can make a person more mature than age ever can.

I think that if he is mature enough to be at war he is mature enough to drink wine.
